A Reminder from the Association Secretary!

Sim & Sandwiches - 30 Sqn Association Members Only!

Just a gentle reminder to the140 or so who have yet to respond to my last Newsletter! The Sqn are set to host us on Saturday 5 October and they have acquired the use of the Atlas Flight Simulator.  Whilst our President and a select few are quite happy to enjoy the full motion device for several hours each (and to devour the entire buffet lunch between us, in true Ascot style!), I thought it appropriate to remind members that, if you wish to attend this event, the RAF will require a few details ... via me.

Please reply (in the fairly near future) with the following information, if you wish to join us: 

Your name and that/ those of anyone accompanying you.

Whether you would like to fly, should that be possible on the day. If so, full names for the manifest, please.

Whether any of your party has a food allergy (and, if so, what).

Vehicle type, colour and registration number.

Parking will be in the TCW Car Park and you are requested to arrive by 0945. Te plan is that a nostalgic ride in an MT coach will then terminate at the Sqn building. The TCW Car Park is found by continuing Eastwards along Carterton Road from the turning to the Brize Main Gate. Go around the roundabout and it will appear on your left hand side just before you get to Brize Norton village. It's not far and appears to be somewhat more than just a mere "lay-by"!

Hercules Fleet Dinner

Second item, whilst I've got your attention:  

The First Hercules Fleet Dinner will be held on Friday October 18. This is open to everybody who flew, serviced, loaded and generally fettled with the C-130 in any capacity during its lifespan. This has morphed into an unaccompanied event, given that very few Spouses booked in.

Venue; The Village Hotel, Shaw Ridge, Swindon. SN5 7DW. (Formerly called "The De Vere", I believe). 1830 for 1915.

Cost: £60.00 per head. This covers Pre-drinks, a 3 Course meal, Simon Footer's best "Herc related entertainment" (???!!!) and a late bar. 

Rooms: Available by booking directly with the hotel on 01793-279470. £85 per single/ £95 for a twin or double. Quote the event.

Dress Code: Jacket and tie. Ladies: long or cocktail dresses, please.
