The Royal British Legion D-Day 80th Anniversary

As you may know 6th June 2024 marks 80 years since the D-Day landings, the largest amphibious operation in history. This marked the beginning of the liberation of France and Western Europe. We will be keeping up the tradition of honouring the sacrifice and courage of the men and women who played their part in D-Day. Unprecedented coordination between Allied nations, and the intensive planning of engineers, meteorologists, logisticians and countless more, along with the associated airborne operations, led to a force from 13countries approaching Normandy and marked the beginning of the liberation of France and western Europe.

RBL will be hosting a programme of commemorative events in Normandy on 5 and 6 June and in the UK at the National Memorial Arboretum, pictured. We will also be providing resources to help our members and supporters find veterans in their local communities and to commemorate their service. We want people to make meaningful connections and celebrate the legacy of the whole D-Day generation.

Keep an eye on our website for updates and information on how you can get involved.

As well as all of this, we have much more coming up over the next year. Remember to look out for our regular e-news and stay up to date with what we are up to on FacebookInstagram and X.
